BIOQUÉBEC'S CLOSING REMARKS AT ''RENDEZ-VOUS POLITIQUE DE LA FÉDÉRATION DES CHAMBRES DE COMMERCE DU QUÉBEC (FCCQ)''

Our executive director, Emmanuelle Toussaint, at BIOQuébec had the honor of participating to the “Rendez-Vous Politique de la Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ)” with Canada’s Minister of Health, Jean-Yves Duclos

The Minister outlined the federal government’s 5 health priorities and related challenges: environment & biodiversity, which impact the health of Canadians; diversity and inclusion; the economy and governance.

In her closing remarks, Emmanuelle highlighted the expertise of BIOQuebec’s members working in all areas of life sciences - from R&D to commercialization - and the importance of the Government of Canada working with the provinces and dealing with Health Transfers in a timely manner. Together, we can find solutions to the problems surrounding Canada’s health systems, while respecting the division of powers between the federal and the provinces.

Of course, the topic of Patented Medicine Prices Review Board (PMPRB) reform was also discussed several times during this event, so we also pointed out how innovation in the life sciences sector is fundamental. We highlighted that while this sector has the wind in its sails, we must ensure that innovations are not stifled by controls, although proposed with the best intentions.
